Question about mice in my house?!?

So, the other day I saw a tiny mouse dart across my family room floor. They're doing a lot of construction behind my house, so I'm thinking the contractors disturbed where the mice were currently living and they decided to take up homestead in my house. GROSS!

Anyway, we caught 2 with the standard old fashioned snapping mouse traps. We have 5 more set out in various places, but they haven't been touched or caught anything in a good 5 days or more. Is it safe to assume that there were only the 2 mice in my house and there aren't any more anywhere else? We are almost positive that we caught the mice 2 days after they decided to come into our home because we noticed a couple of nights prior some scratching in our wall. We found mouse droppings before we caught the mice, but I cleaned and disinfected and there haven't been any new droppings anywhere, so I'm thinking there aren't any more of these gross little things running around in my house, right?

Wow Good job.

5 days, now check all your food very well.

they may not be getting into a trap because they are eating food in your oat meal.

so if all your food has been checked and cabinets do not have signs

then you can finally be happy.

and throw out any food that was open (where a lid was off)

or a hole was chewed.

clean up any droppings left behind and look for ways it may have got into your home and close it off.

leave out the traps forever anyway

Just in case these suckers come back.

Great Job You did it. By By Mice

Mice have a gestation period of about three weeks. Supposing everything stays clean for that amount of time, you're probably in the clear.

Police your food. Durable containers that can't be chewed through. Cook moderately and catch every stain.

Definitely stick with traps, and bait them well. Poison is very good at killing vermin, but not at choosing where. Took me weeks to find a dead mouse once. Ew! And if it decides to kick it inside an unreachable area, you'll be asking around here for ways to get rid of the stench.

U could be right, it sounds like they were disturbed and came into yrs. Might have just been the odd 2, keep a look out and make sure there's no food kept out especially overnight.
