How do i get off remaining pieces of paper/posters on my wall?

It makes parts of my wall look tacky and i would like to know how to get rid of them, i used a wall stapler to put them up and theres bits of paper still there.

Spray them with warm water, they should peal right off.

Use a slotted screw driver to reach under the staples and pry up. When the staples come out, the small bits of paper will fall off. Fill the holes made by the screw driver and touch up the paint.

What should i do with leftover blocks from concrete?

If you have a fair amount, put out a sign "free clean fill"

Someone will come to take it away .

Leave a sign at a landscaper or lumberyard,

Contractors always need clean rubble,

All I have ever done.

you made concrete blocks or it's concrete blocks from building something ??? make a wall...make a planting bed, give the blocks to Tony Soprano..

You got amny choices You can dig a hole in the ground and bury them or you can call a dumspter and ged rid of them!!!!

go to freecycle.com and give them away. There is always someone who needs them and they can come and get it.

make a mold design and pour moltin aluminum in there

Just bought 2 burner gas grill. Spent 4 hours installing; now it won

Any ideas on how to get this thing to lite? I hooked up the propane tank and just bought a brand new tank.. your help would be appreciated.

If you can't hear a hiss of gas, turn off the propane tank, and start disassembling. Something must be blocking the flow.

Check again the connection on the tank. Also double check the shut-off valve on the tank.

In my excitement to have my first cookout of the year I once forgot to turn the shut off valve on.It seems like a real obvious thing to do but also real easy to forget.

I had this problem and couldn't figure it out until I got right underneath and saw that the tube going up to the control knobs was not inserted correctly.

you probably left a plastic thread protector or packing in the gas supply preventing the the flow

How do you make your own scented candles

I have this idea for unique scented items but I wanted to know how are the scents put into the items. Like what if I wanted to make lip balm or candles that smelled like fried chicken and mashed potatoes? (Not really but that sounds lovely.)

Im not sure how correct I am on this but my boyfriends aunt makes scented candles that smell really good. I think she buys the frangrances in a bottol from a craft store and mixes it in while shes melting the wax for the candles. You can probably find them at hobby lobby.

I once saw lip balm made using vaseline and kool aid powder. You mix a littl of the kool aid drink mix in with the vaseline and it will not only scent it but flavor it as well.

Insulating hot water pipes?

I am insulating hot water pipes in my basement. I already insulated my steam pipes with 3/4 foam insulation with adhesive on the seam. I have 3" hot water pipe that is almost burn your hand hot to the touch. Will foam be OK for this or is there a Temp ceiling for them. Do they melt? Thanks

I would be careful with the foam insulation on your steam pipe, and the adhesive might also be a concern. The adhesive could possibly be flammable and might ignite at high temperatures, and it could be a catalyst to start the foam burning as well. Generally, foam insulation in intended to provide a vapor barrier for cold piping to stop condensation problems. The foam will probably be OK on your hot water, but really the traditional product would be fiberglass pipe covering which you should be able to buy at larger home renovation centers or look in the yellow pages for insulation suppliers and they will have it for sure, it will not cost much, maybe less than the foam.

Check the rating on the foam, it should say what it's rated for. If you want to be safe, there's a similar fiberglass insulation for pipes.

I'd be inclined to put some cladding around it. Foam is very combustible. Not worth losing the house to fire for the cost of an expert to come and prepare the pipe safely

If you have already done your steam pipes and have had no problem then obviously a hot water line should be no problem either as steam is much hotter than hot water!!

Even 130 pipes will burn your hand - and many people set their water heater higher than that. Foam pipe insulation should have no problem handling your pipe's temps.

How do I go about building a clubhouse for my kids?

We have a small back yard, but an old dog run. And I really don't want to buy a premade one. Where is a good place to build one of these on?

Do you have any strong trees in your back yard? Your hubby can make the kids a nice tree house that they can have for their whole lives if he builds it the right way. I'll even bet MMM Beer will help out if you throw in an 18 pack for him. Good luck and I hope this helps!

thought you wanted to pitch a tent??

Can you put a iron-on patch on luggage?

Yes you can if it is cloth. You cannot put it on the luggage if it is plastic or vinyl. It will melt.

If it is vinyl or plastic, you can try fabric glue which will stick to it.

:-)

Yes but not by ironing it on. You would need to glue it on.

Only if it is made of cloth.

What can I do to make my bedroom colder without using air conditioner?

I live in Philippines and this summer it becomes so hot.

Get thicker curtains (I had nice black fake leather curtains) and keep them shut while the sun shines in your windows. That will work as long as you aren't in a humid environment.

You could place a bowl of cold water in your room near the window to keep the humidity in the room and when the wind blows through the opened windows water gently blows around the room, this works well for people with Hey-fever and Asthma too!

Keep bedroom door closed when not there and open the windows so there will be wind blowing in....

Keep the windows covered during the sunshine invasion. Hose down the outside walls after the sun is setting. Put your PJ's in the freezer if you use pj's.

Get a fan and not an aircon?

There is a special heat resistant paint that you can apply on your terrace floor.

get the room haunted. You will get a cold shiver whenever you walk into the room.

try installing a ceiling fan

How do you get it to put the lotion in the basket?

i gave it the lotion and it will not put it in the effing basket.

Show it your genitals.

depends what part of the lady suit it is, just put the lotion on, after you hack the flesh off!! it will save you some aggravation.

Give it the hose again. It puts the lotion in the basket, or else it gets the hose again.

You threaten to make a suit out of their skin--or else it gets the hose again. That usually works.

Remind it that if it does not, it will get the hose again.

be gentle with it. dont let it intimadate you, maybe lick it once or twice. it wiill know what to do

It gets the hose

Give it the hose!

Put it in the basket yourself?

tell it itll get the hose again.

bribe it with some chicken

force it in

are you talking about silence of the lambs?

I want to attach a cow shove to the front of my car?

If I had a cow shove on the front of my car, and I ran people over very slowly, do you think they would be ok? They would probably just get pushed gently out of the way right?

I'm asking because I get annoyed when people cross the street in front of me when I'm trying to drive.

Hey, why slow down? If I saw a cow shove speeding towards me I'ld be picking up speed myself. Try picking up a horn used in ambulances or fire trucks..you'll get noticed.

Use eye contact with the pedestrian. Without looking at him except out of the corner of your eye, keep the forward motion going as if you don't see him. However, it is very important that you are ready to stop if necessary but not too many pedestrians will keep walking out in front of a moving vehicle if the driver doesn't seem to know that they are there.

They are getting very insistent on crossing these days anywhere and when they please. It's too bad the driver is charged if there is a mishap. The right of the pedestrian is often taken to unrealistic limits.

To bad tootsie but in most cities pedestrians have the right of way in the cross walk or not. Better look up your rules and get rid of some of that road rage.

If you want to learn the whole driver vs. ped. then spend a few weeks in Boston......You will get more than annoyed. You will get a lesson....Drive safely and don't hit anyone.

How to make table mats ?

it must not be childish

Cut two rectangles the size of the desired mat plus half an inch (1.25 cm) in all directions (to allow for seams).

Sew around the perimeter.Sew the two rectangles together with printed or "right" sides facing together, leaving a 3-4 inch gap for turning.

Clip the corners.Miter the corners.

Turn it so that seam allowances are hidden inside.Turn it "right" side out.

Slip stitch the opening closed.

Top stitch the edges.Top stitch around the perimeter.

A design on each side.Congratulate yourself, as you have just sewn a placemat!

Is there any method for removing rubber backing from a floor?

Is there a method other than scraping or any way of speeding up the precedure?

A heat gun - available hardware store. But you still will have to use a scraper with it, but it will speed up the process, rather than just use a scraper alone.

You need to elaborate on your question.

What kind of flooring is it?

Is the "rubber" on the floor, or on the bottom of something you removed from the floor?

there are solvents that allow yo to wipe it up after application check with a flooring product supply store or go to( ask .com) and type in your question then go on the internet for directories of your area and find out who carries it.

Scrapeing, is the only way I know. Check with a hardware store for a chemical. It will scrape up, you may be able to heat it and it come up easier.

You will still have to scrap ! but wet it with hot water soapy water it will loosen it up! Good Luck

Should all houses have air bricks? Mould problem?

We have damp on the bedroom wall, the wall with the window. It's only on 1 wall.

Someone said that the airbrick may be blocked, but there's no airbrick from what I can see. Also none of the houses down our lane have airbricks either. The houses were all built 1850-1900 and have stone cladding on the front.

Could it just be a ventilation problem or something worse? Are there any signs if it's a bad damp problem? I don't want to call someone who then says it's really bad and will cost thousands etc and rip us off.

The mould is white, fluffy stuff. We've stripped off the wall paper and washed it but it comes back unless the window is open all day.

i'm no expert but have had experience of mould on walls. the windows put in now don't 'breath' and everything is shut in. Is the room heated adequately because if your walls are cold the moisture from you, your shower, cooking etc will hit the cold wall & turn to mould,if its not vented well enough. One of my houses had faulty gutters & so the rain seeped in. That's when I learned how important gutters are.Good Luck with this problem. I'm sure you'll find a reputable builder to help. they're not all out to con you. We only here of the bad ones.

Check the window is pointed and all gaps sealed around the window ( inside and outside ) and check the pointing on the stone cladding and point where necessary and check gutters are not overflowing so water is not penetrating the back of the stone cladding . a stitch in time saves nine . good luck . Overnight leave the window open to see if it builds up due to moisture from yourselves whilst sleepiomg i have forgotten the amount of water we breath out during sleep but it is quite high then consider vents in the window .

You only have air bricks in houses that have wooden floors, and they should be in the front and back of house.

If you cant see any air bricks then your problem is DPC( damp proof course).Which means that you don`t have any means to stop dampness coming from the outside through your walls.

you have all most answered your own question...its not there when you leave window open...you need to leave it open or get an air brick put in ..all so you need to wipe wall with dettol to kill the spores ..it helps if you leave bedroom door open...as your house was built over 100 years ago you have no cavity ..its just 9"solid ...air only goes round in circles ..it dont do corners ..thats why the corners suffer most

For me the answer lays in a clue you gave, its on a window wall. Have a look under the window cil, about an inch in there should be a V shape cut in the cil, this prevent the rain from running across and down on the bricks, which in turn causes dampness. Quite often this breaks away and must be replaced. Also look for a small crack in any covering for the bricks, like pebble dash.

On your comment relating to air bricks most house these days have cavity walls and they in turn have been filled which would have sealed off any air bricks so what value they are I don't know

What is the simplest way to add a pitched roof to a flat roofed garage.?

I'm looking at a 24' X 26' area of a house over a garage that has a flat roof. Water seams to be pooling in a few areas. We were thinking of adding a 2 x 6 ridge in the middle and sloping it in both directions. I'm a pretty handy guy nut I have not done this before so I'm looking for pointers.

The roof is strong. The waterproofing material ha some kind of fiberglass, I got it all over my arm, that's how I knew. Can I build right on top of this or do I have to remove the roofing material first, I really would hate to mess with that fiberglass. There are no current leaks.

What do I need to do for venting? Can I just cut a few holes in the existing roof to allow for ventilation and then add some roof vents.

Without a more exact description of the structure in relation to the house it is hard to advise. Are the ceiling joists 24' or 26' long? Is the garage attached to the house or separate? Do the joists run perpendicular or parallel to the house? Anyway, if possible, use a Reciprocating Saw and cut all the nails between the two boards of the double top plate on 3 sides. The front and two sides or the side by the house and the front and back. Jack up the roof joists in unison 6"to 12"to accomplish a shallow shed roof and fill the void created with two 2"x 6"or 2"x 12" on edge and blocked together to the necessary width to match the walls. Then make custom blocking to fill the triangular spaces over the other walls. It will be necessary to scab on extra length to the raised joist ends if you want any overhang or if you need them even with the wall under them.

You can buy roof trusses and anchor them to the existing flat roof then sheet it and shingle it. if you just want to get rid of the pooling, you can slope everything back one direction. You can do this by building a 2x4 frame then sloping it toward the back of the garage. after you do this put plywood sheeting on it and add shingles.

Sounds like you are right on track. Just build over the old roof. Your idea for venting is just fine. Build away.....

What

i'm planning on buying a cushion in large amounts and i want the cheapest possible

please help thanks

You cannot shop for price if you want a good cushion. The reason is that the price of foam that the cushions are made of is very high.Foam cost is related to the price of crude oil, energy, and including gasoline!

No throw pillow from a major department store is any good. Maybe Macy's or Nordstrom. Feel the sofa pillows from Wal Mart or similar store. Way too soft. Also cheap sofas ; Sitting on the cheapest you can sink almost all the way to the floor! Knees clear up to your nose! We recently had the six cushions on our sofa replaced and the price was 1,300! And we shopped carefully beforehand.

Dense foam simply costs a lot of money.

If you want something cheap, you can make your own. All you have to do is buy your on fabric and stuff it with cotton and sew it up.

How do I get smoke smell out?

I bought some cards on Ebay and they arrived and they reek of smoke. Does anyone have any tips on how to get that smell out?

Place them in a paper bag with an open box of baking soda and see if this does the trick.

Sounds silly but hang them outdoors in a shaded area to vent.

put baking soda on them ,or corn starch they help with smell

that's a sham they smell

Freestanding Electric Fireplace?

I have an Freestanding Electric Fireplace that works fine however, I makes the most God awful noise when it is running. It sounds like a screw is being churned in the motor. I have no Idea what it could be. Any ideas?

Did you call the repair man? If u didn't then you should because the fireplace might have more and more things that have to be fixed than you think. Also, if u still continue use then it could get worse. Was that helpful?I'm waiting for a reply.

Do you have a model number? Does it have a fan? Did you install it yourself? Maybe it is a screw churning in the motor!..lol

Question about mice in my house?!?

So, the other day I saw a tiny mouse dart across my family room floor. They're doing a lot of construction behind my house, so I'm thinking the contractors disturbed where the mice were currently living and they decided to take up homestead in my house. GROSS!

Anyway, we caught 2 with the standard old fashioned snapping mouse traps. We have 5 more set out in various places, but they haven't been touched or caught anything in a good 5 days or more. Is it safe to assume that there were only the 2 mice in my house and there aren't any more anywhere else? We are almost positive that we caught the mice 2 days after they decided to come into our home because we noticed a couple of nights prior some scratching in our wall. We found mouse droppings before we caught the mice, but I cleaned and disinfected and there haven't been any new droppings anywhere, so I'm thinking there aren't any more of these gross little things running around in my house, right?

Wow Good job.

5 days, now check all your food very well.

they may not be getting into a trap because they are eating food in your oat meal.

so if all your food has been checked and cabinets do not have signs

then you can finally be happy.

and throw out any food that was open (where a lid was off)

or a hole was chewed.

clean up any droppings left behind and look for ways it may have got into your home and close it off.

leave out the traps forever anyway

Just in case these suckers come back.

Great Job You did it. By By Mice

Mice have a gestation period of about three weeks. Supposing everything stays clean for that amount of time, you're probably in the clear.

Police your food. Durable containers that can't be chewed through. Cook moderately and catch every stain.

Definitely stick with traps, and bait them well. Poison is very good at killing vermin, but not at choosing where. Took me weeks to find a dead mouse once. Ew! And if it decides to kick it inside an unreachable area, you'll be asking around here for ways to get rid of the stench.

U could be right, it sounds like they were disturbed and came into yrs. Might have just been the odd 2, keep a look out and make sure there's no food kept out especially overnight.

Are metal roofs any good? I know they are very expensive.?

They are supposed to last a lifetime, but why pay for something I won't be around long enough to care.

Usually your biggest investment is in your home. By purchasing a metal roof, you're increasing the value of that investment.

Metal roofing is not subject to many of the issues that shingle roofing materials are such as curling, cracking and the darn fungus that makes the black streaks on the roof.

I don't know about them lasting a lifetime, that might be pushing it but I do know they last much longer than standard shingles with next to no maintenance. Everyone I know that has had one installed is totally thrilled with them and report that their homes are warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Seriously considering one here!

Practically everyone I've known that has replaced a roof in the last 10 years has gone with a metal roof. We live in an area that is prone to hail storms and while hail can damage a metal roof, it's not damaged as easily and certainly doesn't need to be replaced every couple of years due to hail damage. It's pricey, but well worth it in most cases.

yes, they are good. it will last longer than 20-30 yr. shingles. you get what you want to pay for.

Hairspray on favourite top - Can you help?

I have spilled hairspray onto my favourite linen-type shirt. This has created a hideous dark stain that I have been unable to remove with water.

Can you help?

10 points guaranteed for first good answer.

I dont know if it would work on hairspray but try the spray n' Wash 2 in 1 stain remover.

What does borax do for your laundry?

Do you use it along with the liquid detergent or is it something you use by itself? Just wondering because the details/instructions on the box didn't really inform me that much.

You don't use it by itself. You add a half cup to a cup along with your regular detergent. It gets clothes cleaner and makes whites whiter.

..

Borax is primarily a water softener. It will make your normal detergent more effective if you have hard water.

it brightens and boost

yes use it with your deterent

or it could be used alone

also borax can be put around house to help kill some bugs

I am plasma cutting some steel tube, is there any way to protect the inside of the tube from splatter and?

build up? I tried a smaller tube but it did not quite do the trick. Wondering if there is a product/style i don't know about.

You may want to try anti splatter spray used in mig welding. Works for weld splatter.Check with local welding supply store.

Fill the tube with sand.

Vacum Bags to buy or not to buy?

Is it true that papaya is effective as contraceptive and to induce abortion?

Is it true that papaya is effective as contraceptive and to induce abortion?

I read on wikipedia this:

"Women in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and other parts of the world have long used green papaya as a folk remedy for contraception and abortion.[citation needed] Medical research in animals has confirmed the contraceptive and abortifacient capability of papaya, and also found that papaya seeds have contraceptive effects in adult male langur monkeys, possibly in adult male humans as well.[4] Unripe papaya is especially effective in large amounts or high doses. Papaya is not teratogenic and will not cause miscarriage in small, ripe amounts. Phytochemicals in papaya may suppress the effects of progesterone."

and

"It is also commonly believed to induce abortions and is best avoided by pregnant women."

Is this true?

and if so,

would this effects come to be by just EATING the fruit or is there some technique that is being omitted in this information?

Yes, it's true.

"Women in Sri Lanka use papaya fruit as contraceptives because they are cheap and natural," says Tharmalingam Senthilomohan. "If they want to become pregnant, they simply avoid eating them." His findings: abortion can be induced by eating unripe papaya for three consecutive days. And daily consumption of ripe fruit can be an effective contraceptive."

I would NOT, under any circumstance, rely on this as a means of contraceptive...maybe just as a back-up to whatever you normally use. otherwise, you'll end up with a bun in the oven. "Folk Remedies" are not what you would call reliable.

Urgent question concerning our dryer...?

I was throwing in a load of clothes to dry and our daughter's doll bottle went DOWN the lint catcher at the back of the dryer. I can't reach it.

1. How do I remove it?

2. If I run the dryer, is this going to start a fire?

My husband is at work and is going to flip when he finds out. I just moved the bottle to the left and hit it with my elbow. Before I could catch it- down the vent it went.

HELP! (please)

I wouldn't run it if I were you. Not seeing the particular dryer, I can only guess but you'll probably end up either opening the top or back to get it out. On some this is fairly easy. If you have to open the back, you've got to move it away from the wall. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE POWER CORD BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT ANY OF THIS. Also, if it's a gas dryer you may need to call a licensed plumber or gas fitter in order to move it. Oh, on some, you can lift the top up kind of like a car hood. REMEMBER - UNPLUG THE POWER FIRST!

EDIT 23:03 EDT - Gas. I was afraid you'd say that. If there is a flexible gas line connected you may be able to carefully move it (are those flexible lines even legal anymore?) TURN OFF GAS BEFORE MOVING!.. Otherwise I do not recommend tampering with the gas line as a gas leak can have catastrophic consequences.

EDIT 23:39 EDT - As I think on this, I suspect you may find the bottle in or near the blower fan assembly. Good luck.

How is it possible for a doll bottle to go through a lint trap????? Unless you didn't put the trap in. Even so, you can easily retrieve it. The exhaust isn't stong enough to send it out the exhaust vent. And, with the heat, you should have Barbie plastic all over your clothes. Just to put your mind at ease, no, it wont cause a fire..a bad smell maybe, but no fire. Most dryer fires are caused by years of dried up and flammable lint. Not Barbies

If it went down the lint catcher, it'll be simple enough to retrieve.

Your going to have to pull the dryer out and take off the vent pipe.

You'll find there.

It will most likely melt if you run the dryer, possibly start a fire.

Can you see it with a light? Can you vacuum it out?

What about a thin stick with double sided tape?

I have just grown many flowers..?

And I was wondering why the flowers always come up looking like a jacked up version of a 3 leaf clover.

Why Is that

Greatly Detalied answers would be awesome!

Actually I was thinking all that grew was oxalis weed.

Does anyone know where to get Coach or Gucci Wallpaper?

I'm looking to do a few walls of my house in coach wallpaper, maybe even gucci or LV. Does anyone know where to purchase designer wallpaper for homes!? I have no idea!

I'm not sure where to find it, but the other day I came across a blog about a women who wanted others opinions on Gucci wallpaper. In the blog she mentioned it sold for 85$ a roll. Try going to Gucci.com. GOOD LUCK :)

What

they look like grapes hanging from the tree

Are they purple flowers.......like Wisteria? Or are they a purple fruit? If a fruit, is the cluster like a grape or more open or more closed...like an elder?

it's a bush actually

yea wisteria is the vine on a tree

If duct tape can fix everything, what do you fix duct tape with?

when duct tape breaks.

Band-Aids or more DUCT TAPE!!!! (preferably in a different color. make your duct tape feel cool) magic stuff, that is.

Forget not the hammer.

But seriously, duct tape wasn't meant for anything hot or wet. And in those cases where you need duct tape holding power without the residue, try gaffer's/stage tape.

There's a special - and rather expensive - duct tape repair kit you could buy. Or you could just use caulk.

I will sell you a duct tape repair kit for $19.95 - order now and I will double the offer!

just solder it back together, it's all gravy baby!

You need Goose Tape.

gorilla glue.

more duct tape

and then JB weld.

Chewing gum.

And lots of chewing.

More duct tape!

more duct tape of course

I need to cut some slats in square steel tube. I can not get a straight cut with my plasma cutter. Does anyone?

know of a good metal cutting saw or other option that can be used on mild steel tube?

use a piece of angle iron clamped to the tube as a guide.

wtf? who has a Plasma cutter at home??? $3 will buy you a metal cut-off blade for any one of your tools SkilSaw, grinder, Sawsall, etc.

wafer blade on your angle grinder...

Dry your clothes or no?

do you dry all your clothes in the dryer? I do not, i just do pj%26#039;s, undies and socks..the rest i hang dry ..i have had too many clothes shrink!!

I dry pants, towels, underwear, all of my husbands clothes (his idea, not mine) some pants, sheets, most everything else I hang up to dry. My apartment usually looks like a clothing store on laundry day...lol

I do unless it%26#039;s something that specifically says not to put it in the dryer. We aren%26#039;t allowed to have clothes lines in our sub-division (go figure) so anything that has to hang to dry is hung in the house or on a very short line I put up on the back porch. We have too much laundry to hang much at one time, but I do love the smell of clothes that have been line dried in the sun, especially sheets.

i have the same problem. I hang everything to dry except pj%26#039;s, bras, socks, undies. They say u should always dry ur undies cuz the heat helps completly take out bacteria %26amp; stuff. I always hang jeans to dry cuz ive had too many jeans shrink. I usually just hang them to dry then put them in dryer on the lowest setting for like 5min to fluff up so they dont have that hard feeling. Also alot of stuff is 100% cotton which is the first thing to shrink, so i never put that stuff in the dryer if i dont want it to shrink. So yea i agree i dont put all my stuff in the dryer

Depends on the weather. When its nice all our cloths hang. I enjoy the fresh air smell better. Haven%26#039;t had a shrinkage problem unless it%26#039;s new clothes.

Yeah, I don%26#039;t have access to a clothes line.

dryer single man who still sends out the laundry

Well it depends i dry most of my clothes and my school uniform...i dont dry towels and heavy jeans i hang those...

i hang my jeans and some shirts, everything else goes in the dryer.

Can I use the same type of soil for Succulent/cactus plants?

Hi like to plant some cactus like plants such as Lithops, alone with Haworthia. it is for indoors as I live in a cold country and I would also like to know what soil i need . I hope someone can help...

many thanks...

any compost but with up to 50% grit sand added (for drainage and helps to protect against %26quot;neck rot%26quot; at the soil surface.

DO NOT use soft (builders sand)

some of the cacti/succulents from the southern hemisphere tend to grow in the winter and are not so hardy.

enjoy the plants

You need a well draining soil, sandy. Remember with Lithops they need a dry period, usually no water from October until April, then once watered they bloom. So they are best grown in a pot alone. I topped the pot off with pebbles, as the Lithops also look like pebbles.

For cacti,it should contain sand.

What is the best way to clean dog feces off of sneakers?

My son has a bad habit of not watching where he walks. He stepped in dog poop with his brand new Jordans. I know this is nasty but the poop is in the grooves on the sole of the sneaker. How can I get this out of the grooves? Please don't say toothpick because it is making me more sick.

I know..i gagged soooo much when i had to clean my 11 yr old daughter sneickers one time and my 3 yr old son's sneickers another time...i had to do it with a scrub pad, Q-tips and the hose on high...First, shoot the bottom with a hose then use the scrub pad and whatever little feces are still left, use a Q-tip! it was disgusting but got the job done!

to get the poop out of all the little grooves your going to have to soak the soles. this can be done by filling a laundry trough with about 1/2 inch of warm soapy water and leave the shoes soles down in there to let the poop soak out, then the nasty part .. after they have been soaked get a brush *something with stiff bristles ie a dish cleaning brush* and give the soles a good scrub following the pattern of the shoes .. when doing this try to face the shoes away from you while doing it as to not get bits of poop in ur face!

put on rubber gloves, spray with sprayer, use dish soap, toothbrush, and yes, toothpicks!! And if your son is young, get used to it!!

old toothbrush and hose over drain.

TOMATOES what is the best and sweetest variety to grow?

To make any tomato sweeter just put a tablespoon of sugar in the whole before planting. I have also heard you can water them with sugar water maybe once a week (haven't tried this).

As for varieties, your yellow or pink tomatoes are sweeter than others.

Grape tomato's all the way, we call them yard candy!

Poison Ivy (20 characters)?

Poison Ivy (20 characters)?

I need to find things about it like the respiration, excretion, circulation, etc. and i googled it and cant find ANYTHING! can you help me pleasee?

poison ivy is first of all a plant, and a flowering plant at that, so it has typical plant life processes like photosynthesis for nutrition, aerobic respiration in mitochondria, a vascular system of xylem and phloem to carry water and sugar around the plant, stomates in the leaves for release of O2 and water, hormones to regulate growth and flowers for reproduction by seeds If you google poison ivy you can get photos of the leaves, stems, roots and flowers, and a description of how this vine grows and where it is usually located (open shade near forests)

What are alternatives to sponges for dishwashing?

I read that sponges harbor a lot of bacteria, so what are some other options I could use for washing my dishes?

That is absolutley true about the bacteria but keep in mind that you can easily get rid of that bacteria too... I prefer a sponge so I keep a small jar with bleach on my sink and I regularly soak my sponge in hot water with a lil' bleach for 30 seconds or so... Also, when I run my dishwasher I always put my sponge in the washer too and then microwave it for 20 seconds... Also -- Sponges are cheap so I replace mine often

A dishwasher.

They have brushes. I've seen people use dish rags, but to me that's more disgusting than a sponge. I do use those scotch sponges, but I toss them out about once a week or so.

I use chamois cloth dish towels. You can use them then wash them with the clothes.

welll anything you use will harbor bacteria in the dock of the soap unless you wash it!

Washcloth, or if used lightly, paper towel.

wash rag

there are trow a way ones also that have dish soap in them

you soak a dryer sheet in a sticky pan then wash with it

hope they help u

Those dish brushes...dont know if they have a proper name.

I HAVE WORMS IN MY APARTMENT?

THERE CREAM COLORED AND I HAVE NO ANIMALS OR ANYTHING I FIND THEM ON THE WALLS ITS SCARY

How long are they? If they are very tiny and short I suspect moth larvae. Not scary, just a pain in the neck. We get a lot of them here in the spring because we live in an area that grows Alfalfa. They are a grain moth. If you keep the moths out of the house as much as possible, it will help.

Good luck

Yes, they are definitely Indian meal moth/pantry moth larvae. You have some infested food someplace in your pantry or they are coming from another apartment. You need to get rid of the food to get rid of the problem. Everything should be sealed in a plastic container with lids. Look in the cereal, flour, dog food, bird seed, any food that is open. You will soon see little brown moths flying around. There are gypsy moth traps or meal moth traps with sticky glue inside. They will fly to the trap due to the scent and get stuck there.

I had some come into my house via bird seed. They are a pain to get rid of, but once you get rid of the food and trap the remaining you will deplete their numbers until they are gone.

Once you've rid yourself of them, you can prevent new infestation by freezing for a week any incoming grain, flour, cereal, seed etc.
