Coffee grounds on plants...?

The local botanical gardens confirmed for me that placing coffee grounds on your plants is indeed good for them.



Could one of you garden experts who may be more aware of the chemistry of botany tell me, will the caffeine in the grounds leech into the resulting plants? For flowers it is of no consequence, but what about my basil and tomatoes?
